This week Tom Hayton from Techfugees HQ team is in Helsinki to mentor on ”Newcomer Bootcamp”– a 3 day small business boot camp for refugees that’s running alongside Arctic15.
The idea is to provide a business ”tool kit” for war-displaced people who want to set up their own enterprises, consisting of presentations, brainstorming, team building, pitching, mentoring and legal guidance, among other things.
Unlike typical startup boot incubators or hackathons, this boot camp is for any type of small business, and may or may not include tech businesses.
The aim is to empower refugees to stand on their own feet and integrate into society. The ultimate aim is to roll out the boot camp model and tool kit across Europe. The event has been made possible through tech sponsorship from MONI, who are providing payment systems to the attendees, and Arctic 15, who are providing the venue and support staff.
