On November 19-20, 2016, Skellefteå in northern Sweden, will host a Hackathon with a difference. Over a day-and-a half, the tech community from the region will come together at Skellefteå’s modern new ‘start-up’ house, to conceive, and develop Apps for society – including immigrants, using open data available from sensors across the city, and from the municipality. The Apps should have AR capabilities making them exciting and useful.
The Hackathon has been organised by the Skellefteå Digital Alliance and the SenseSmart Region Project. It is strongly supported by Skellefteå Kommun, Smart Tillväxt, Skellefteå Science City, Luleå Technical University, and Techfugees.
A jury will review, evaluate, and award winning Apps on November 20, 2016.
Techfugees’ first Hackathon and launch of its Swedish Chapter
The Hackathon in Skellefteå will be UK-based non-for-profit Techfugees’ first event in Sweden. Techfugees is a social enterprise coordinating the international tech community’s response to the needs of Refugees. Techfugees organises conferences, workshops, hackathons, and meet-ups around the world in an effort to generate tech solutions that can help refugees. It also curates and promotes the best projects it finds for implementation in the field.
Techfugees first Hackathon and launch of its Swedish Chapter will be supported by Schibsted Media Group.
