Rwamwanja, Uganda
About this event
According the UNHCR, Uganda hosts about 1.4 million refugees, which makes it the first African host country for refugees, with 60% being children. Forced displacement continues to grow with arrivals mainly from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Sudan and Burundi.
This year pandemic emphasized how much internet is used in every aspect of our lives. For asylum seekers and marginalized refugees, the need is even more important: getting news from your relatives, using translation services, online language courses, administrative services… Being able to access information which helps them navigate the complexities of the new community they are integrating and make informed decisions in is essential in fostering self-reliance for displaced individuals.
