Syrian Startups at Jusoor’s Fourth Annual Entrepreneurship Competition

Jusoor opened up registration for its fourth annual Entrepreneurship Competition this January. The competition is open for application submission until February 10th for all Syrian entrepreneurs who want to develop their idea, acquire skills in entrepreneurship, prepare for accelerators and seed investors, and win financial prizes.

After a ten-day training bootcamp that is held in Beirut, the Jusoor Entrepreneurship competition concludes with a final Demo Day & Entrepreneurship Gathering to be held at Beirut Digital District, Jusoor’s strategic partner and hub for digital and creative industries in Lebanon. The final event will take place on March 3rd and is open to the public to attend and view the pitches live. The final 3 winners will be decided on by a panel of judges and will be nominated to win the financial prizes of $10K for 1st place, $7K for 2nd place and $5K for 3rd place winners.

In its fourth year, the competition has so far supported over 65 startups and trained over 130 Syrian entrepreneurs. The competition also focuses on driving female lead startups to participate in addition to young and ambitious Syrians that have become recently displaced and are settling into their host countries around the world. 

The competition is open to projects in any field with a focus on social and economic development ideas. In order for the teams to be eligible, at least one of the members must have be from Syria, and the project must be in the ‘seed’ stage, meaning that the team can demonstrate traction and prove the potential of their project. Participants should show potential growth that is measurable and scalable.

Jusoor has partnered with that believe in support of the entrepreneurial community as well as partners from the industry providing professional support to complement the Bootcamps. This year’s partners include Capital Guidance, Spark, BDD, ArabNet, WAMDA, MIT Arab Enterprise Forum, Techstars, Berytech, Techfugees, Startup Syria and our media partner Haykal Media

The Jusoor Entrepreneurship program launched in 2014 to further develop the skills of Syrian youth and help them realize their potential. Jusoor announced its establishment of the first Entrepreneurship Competition in December of 2014, which opened the door to the founders of Syrian startups to present their ideas and compete for the financial rewards to fund their ventures. Up to date, Jusoor incubated 56 Syrian startups from different parts of the world.

Jusoor is an NGO of Syrian expatriates helping Syrian youth realize their potential through programs in the fields of education, entrepreneurship, and global community engagement.

Since its launch in 2011, Jusoor has enabled nearly 500 university students to complete their degrees around the world.
