Re:coded Organises a First Social Innovation Hackathon in Erbil, Iraq

Re:Coded is organising a Social Innovation Hackathon to be held in Erbil, Iraq on July 21 – 22, supported by the UN’s Migration Agency (IOM).

Over 3 million Iraqis have been internally displaced due to conflict since early 2014. Meanwhile, approximately 250,000 Syrian refugees are currently living in Iraq. The humanitarian crisis has resulted in challenges in the education, livelihoods and health sectors, amongst others.

Believing that many of these issues can be better solved through collaboration and the development of technology-oriented solutions was the impetus for organising the Social Innovation hackathon.

Prizes will include a cash prize 1,000 USD + free access to Erbil Tech Hub co-working space in August, access to Five One Labs Bootcamp, plus many more prizes to support project development.
