Techfugees is very proud to announce that Josephine Goube, our CEO, was nominated to join the Norwegian Refugee Council Board.
It is a unique opportunity for Techfugees to learn from and contribute to one of the most respected international humanitarian organization that has been assisting displaced people around the world since its creation in 1946, when it assisted refugees in Europe after World War II.
Working in both new and protracted crises across 31 countries, NRC will certainly teach us a lot about how to develop bespoke effective assistance on the ground and inspire Techfugees’ development. We hope to be able to bring the full Techfugees’ experience from hackathons to workathons and show how innovative process and tech solutions can empower displaced people.
About the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC):
The NRC is one of the oldest organizations helping people forced to flee. The organization started their relief efforts after World War Two and is today assisting more than 8 million people worldwide.
As an independent humanitarian organization, NRC provides food assistance, clean water, shelter, legal aid, education and manage camps; all in the aim to promote and protect the rights of people affected by displacement.
More than 14,000 men and women work for the NRC. Most of them are hired locally to work in the field. Many of them were once themselves fleeing their homes. NRC’s Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva is a global leader in monitoring, reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own country.
